Carrot Cake & Jumpa Geng Cari

Last saturday was my birthday, happy birthday to me! yet another year older, sigh! and I decided to bake my own cake since I'm meeting my old fellows cari friends at Zea's house. Woke up early that day to start baking and finish making carrot cake right on time. Here goes a recipe for Rose which I got it from dear FB friend living in Perth.

CARROT CAKE

4 biji telur ( diasingkan putih dan kuning)
1 1/4 cawan corn oil atau vegetable oil
140g gula castor
160g brown sugar
1 1/2 cawan carrot (diparut)
1 sk vanilla essence

diayak

250g self raising flour
1 sudu teh serbuk kayu manis
1 sudu teh garam

100g walnut - dicincang
1 cup of kelapa parut (optional)

Cara

1. Pukul kuning telur, kemudian masukkan minyak, gula (kedua2 jenis) dan carrot. Kacau sebati, masukkan walnut dan akhir sekali masukkan adunan bahan2 kering yg diayak tadi. Kacau perlahan guna senduk kayu.
2. Pukul putih telur sampai betul2 kembang, soft peak (ni penting!) & masukkan dlm adunan kek. Kacau secara kaup balik perlahan2.
3. Bakar pada suhu (preheated oven) 180c selama 45 min.

Frosting

100g butter
250g cream cheese
160g icing sugar ( i guna 3 sudu aje sebab cake terlebih manis)
pukul semua aduan hingga sebati & ringan. Dan boleh dihias di atas kek.

Disney on Ice

Semalam bawa the kiddos and my sister to Disney on Ice: Worlds of Fantasy at Stadium Putra, Bukit Jalil. Fetch her and the kids around 9am and drove straight to my aunty house in Kinrara to drop off her maid and baby Julia before going to Bukit Jalil.

This was Hairee 2nd time at a Disney on Ice whereas 1st time for Jehan and Johan. The show was great and we were very lucky this time, got best view, 1st row from the stage.

We purchased four tickets from one of the outlet in Subang Parade a few days ago, 2 for me and Hairee and another two for my sister and her daughter. Wanted to buy on Saturday show but sold-out, lucky still got best seats available on Sunday 11am show.

We were actually on the 2nd row from the stage, but it was our lucky day, no one seating on the front seats, so we switched place.

Dah habis show, baru dapat rasa Hairee demam. Actually mlm before the show badan dah panas makan ubat, pagi ok. Dia punya excited nak pergi dah berhari-hari tanya when is the show. During the show dia duduk diam sampai habis sebelah kakak jehan, habis show ibu belikan souviner fishy mug...balik singgah farmasi belikan ubat, sempat lagi swimming kat pool rumah my aunty, takut gak demam tak kebah tapi today pergi school, give him medicine..alhamdullilah dah baik sikit.  

School Holiday

Talking about his school progress, early last month I start getting reports from teachers that he is having meltdowns over coloring and writing. I got really distraught and meeting his class teacher one afternoon to hear the real problem.

According to her this seems to be the only problem, he has friends, sociable, he enjoys singing, dancing and likes cutting and pasting but when everyone else were doing coloring or writing he seems to get distracted easily, stop his work and start dreaming and talking which end up he did not finish on time and teachers has to put him at one corner finishing his work whereas the others doing something else. Although it may not a big deal to them but I’m so glad that his teacher came and talk to me earlier, in fact she has given priority to him right now. After having long discussion, we concluded that he would probably just get unexciting with the same thing that he has been doing for the past two years in the old kindergarten. We replaced a few things like from color pencils to giant crayons, fancy coloring books. I even told his teacher to take it easy on him just make sure he participate and give him other materials that make him more enjoyable. So I guess getting to school at early ages does not bring any advantages.

Surprisingly, he shows a lot of improvement in this week at home, he could finish coloring fast, hold the pencil properly and start recognizing A – D. Hopefully he is doing fine at school as well.

Last week I took 5 days off taking the advantages of school holiday to spend time with him away from school. I wish I could spend more time with him every day but at the moment I still need to work to share  the financial burden of raising him and family. Sesungguhnya Allah knows what is best for us.

Kenduri Tahlil

Macam biasa before ramadan, nenek hairee akan buat kenduri tahlil utk arwah kedua-dua nenek dan datuk ku. Just nak letak gambar-gambar sepupu hairee sebelah my side (utk tatapan Hairee bila dia besar nanti)..chinese new year haritu dah tunjuk cousin sebelah daddynya.

My first baking experience

Semalam cuti, actually ada hal tapi last minute program postpone...so since I've nothing to do so tiba2 rasa nak try guna oven. I always wanted to do baking tapi mcm alasan terutama 'Malas'. Tengok2 buku resepi i try terus buat dua jenis..which was actually fun and I'm loving it.

Inilah hasil pertama ku...POPOVERS with Shrimp and cauliflower

Senang aje buat ini google kat youtube boleh jumpa tapi i add shrimp, puree cauliflower and bawang.
Review: Rasanya mcm cucur udang tapi next time when i do it again, after 15min, I'll insert Thai sos.

Hasil kedua ku...CARROT CAKE

I got the recipe from FB's friend, surprisingly it was't difficult to do it and turn-out 'SEDAP !'. My father makan 4 slices.

Kedua2 makanan ini ku angkut ke rumah my mom, hot from the oven dgn loyang sekali masuk kereta drove for almost 1hour dgn kereta ku berbau cake sepanjang jalan. Kalau letak kat rumah, siapa nak habiskan..So, itu pasal takde gambar selepas masak.

Just the two of us yesterday, jalan2 and spend time at home, HB keje. The bantal busuk which he called 'pooh' tak pernah tinggal dari lahir sampai skrg, especially when he wants to drink ribena and susu.

Ibu said 'dont sleep' so he was trying not to sleep by showing me his eyes are big and awake but eventually he felt asleep (penat tolong mengacau ibu..)

Takpe sebelum 2009 berakhir, I better write something about it.

Just want to share some of the pictures of my little ones 'bersembahyang raya' with us at the mosque for the first time in his life.  He did very well according to hubby, duduk diam2 masa everyone sembahyang, good boy. Atuk, Ucu Eriz and Uncle Ehh (my two youngest brothers) were there with hubby to monitor him. I was there too with my mom but of course at ladies area.

Happy Father's Day

Last Friday I found this card when clearing Hairee's school bag. So sweet. A Father's Day card made specially for his daddy. Ok, he is not that clever yet in doing colouring but he can hold pencil well enough now to do 'conteng' on paper and our house wall. Whenever he do 'conteng' he will said 'kokodal' which means crocodile. 'Budak kecik ni takut buaya and cicak so we all selalu takutkan dia by drawing crocodile on the paper, so bila dia dah pandai pegang pensel apa benda dia conteng semuanya 'kokodal'..hehehe

Kepenatan balik from nursery last friday..terus tidur. Teacher cakap dia tidur sejam aje sebab takut petir.

Last Saturday we spent time 'jalan-jalan' at KLCC to buy books for daddy at Kinokuniya and kite-watching on Sunday. Enjoy some pictures taken.

Budak ini amat lah suka Barney. Skrg takde chance nak tengok tv, asyik2 suruh buka dvd Barney, dah byk kali masih terpegun gak..ibu dan daddy dah boleh hafal semua lagu tu..aduhhhh Hairee..
